Springfield Artworks is located in Sarpy County, Nebraska, just 6 miles from I-80, exit 440. Glenn and Margie Trembley have owned the property for 5 years this month (June). They opened a gallery at 183 Main Street in November of 2009.
Many enhancements to the property were done...flooring, lighting, partitions, and all those things that need to go into re-creating a space from a video store to an art gallery. The building was not bought to develop an art gallery but as time progressed and the Trembley's studied their options, they decided to make a small gallery, classroom and studio space. The building is 2500 square feet and allows them to entertain guests as well as students.
The building has a lot of history and flavor of small town Nebraska. It was built by Peter Kiewit from Omaha, NE and is one of the oldest remaining buildings that he constructed.
What many people don't know is it is only 6 miles from the interstate that carries hundreds of thousands of tourists across the country. Very active in the tourism industry, Margie and Glenn Trembley's gallery and studio was selected again to be featured in the Nebraska Tourism Passport program.
Happy Birthday 183 Main Street, Springfield, NE!

Visiting the Northeast
This weekend, the Trembley's attended Glenn's 55th reunion from Delhass High School in Bristol,PA.
The gallery was closed as the reunion just couldn't be missed. Glenn has only attended one reunion, and felt he needed to play catch up with all his old classmates. It was a quick trip via air but many things were crammed into that short time frame. Pizza with Glenn's band the Blazers, Tom, Gene but missing the accordion player, Alex. Maybe next time he'll be there.
All three have gotten rid of their instruments, including Glenn.
From left in the first picture, Gene, Glenn and Tom and on the second picture, , Alex on accordion,,Glenn on drums, Tom on guitar and Gene on sax. Must have been a great sound!
New Hope, a favorite haunt was visited twice for photos and a bit of shopping for accessories for Margie's hats. Only had time for one shop, but maybe another trip someday.
Gallery studio re-opens tomorrow at 10 am with new ideas, new materials and a whole lot of fun for students of Glenn's. Stop by sometime!

It's been a Whirlwind lately!
First I was off to a millinery class in Indiana, learning how to use found objects as blocks for forming hats. Wow, was that fun! Made four hats out of a fantastic Aubergene color. Used one of the small ones as a base for a peek-a-boo hat... So now I have three hats.

Continuing on my hat venture
I am continuing my hat completion process. I thought I was almost done but the last three accessories are slowing me down a bit. I should hear if I get the models I requested today...fingers crossed.
We decided to be open yesterday at Springfield Artworks for part of the day. Someone immediately walked over to Helen Gloeb's acrylic bird paintings and just had to have it for her son's room. Lucky girl. Helen's birds are fantastic. We still have four so if you know anyone interested we can send them right out... We do ship! Just call at 402-301-9162 and we will take care of all the details.
Darcy Berg has reduced her wonderful mini art quilt entitled "Black Birds I". If you want, we might also be able to get Blackbirds II for your collection as well.
If you want to have some good quality family fun, Glenn is teaching his glass fusing classes all summer. Don't miss this opportunity.

Model Request In
Today was a fun day. I submitted my model selections to the model management folks for Omaha Fashion Week. Now it is just wait and see if I get who I wanted. Thanks goes to Lani Bresler for assisting me with so many things.
Got a nice thank you note from my hat instructor thanking me for thanking her! Great gal!
I have a big long list of additional classes I want to take....derby hats in my future? Will see.
My greatest hat ever will be on its lovely owner this weekend for her special event....can hardly wait to get pictures. Hope her great looks and her special hat knocks everyone's socks off so to speak.
Her Mom will look fabulous too.

Surface Design Conference in San Antonio
The Surface Design Association Conference was incredible, from the tour of the President Jane Dunnewold's Studio to the final talk, it was all very inspiring. Meeting Otto Von Busch, an instructor at Parson's School of Design, was special to me since I'm in my first ever Fashion Week with my fascinator hats.
Attending these special conferences really inspire me. I hope I can go again when the conference is in Tulsa, OK. Thanks to everyone who contributed and volunteered their time for a successful event.

The College World Series is happening as we speak in Omaha, my town. It's always a great event. We have an ad in the Omaha Magazine so that when folks have some free time, they can take a little ride to Exit 440 off of I-80 and go 6 miles to our studio and gallery at 183 Main St, Springfield,NE. Should be a fun week.
I have been busy creating fascinator hats for Omaha Fashion Week.....fun, fun.....Last night was the final Model call for potential models for the event in August. My pieces will be modeled by 8 models during the VIP reception and at the reception area on Thursday, August 22. It's exciting! I am learning a lot about preparing for this large event. Tomorrow evening I meet with the interviewers to discuss my progress with the hats....The designers are divided into teams and we will all be in the discussion together..It will be a great learning experience I am sure. This is my first time to particpate in such an event....Wish me luck!
